New report

Why we need more community power

Successive governments have failed to tackle disadvantage, poor health and a lack of growth. Our country is becoming more divided. But we believe our movement has the answer.

With examples from Birmingham, Sunderland, Wigan and Leeds, our new report sets out how government can get more power to local communities to improve their local place, services and economy.

Whether it's their 'Pride in Place' Strategy, the idea of a 'Neighbourhood Health Service', or efforts to 'Get Britain Working', government needs to do more to put powers and funds in the hands of local people.

Who we are

Locality is the national membership network supporting local community organisations to be strong and successful.

We provide specialist advice, peer-learning, resources and campaigns to help every community thrive, including to create connections and opportunities, and to take over and run assets for the benefit of local people. We believe that when communities come together, they can transform lives and build a fairer society.

You are fabulous! What a turnaround! Thank you. Your membership is the most valuable we have, and has been for several years.”

CEO, Sandwell Deaf Community Association
